Le Château du Pilote en Culotte Courte

This post is also available in: nlDutch

This is the castle of the pilot in shorts, in French also called Le Château du pilote and culotte courte. I do not know why this castle got this name. For sure it’s special!

We visited this castle during a two day trip in France. The castle has remained a long-kept secret and is not yet known to the general public.

Urbex is very popular nowadays. I increasingly come across other urbexers who visit the same locations. Most urbexers deal with these locations with great respect. These take the term “Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures” very seriously. Unfortunately, the long-hidden locations are becoming increasingly popular among the general public. It has recently become increasingly common that long-preserved locations are being destroyed by people with bad intentions. belongings are also often stolen from the property. If that’s the case, there is not much left for other explorers and this beautiful hobby is ruined. Fortunately this does not apply to Le Château du pilote and culotte courte.

We went full of excitement towards this long hidden gem. However, we had to be quick because it was late at in the evening and it was already starting to get dark.

When we arrived at the castle we parked our car in the neighbourhood. We took our bags with cameras and walked towards the castle. Luckily the gate was open and in a very short time we were inside the castle.

Once inside it was already pretty dark. Unfortunately, I have not been able to take many photos here.

The castle consists of many rooms spread over 2 floors, a cellar and an attic. All rooms have beautiful wooden floors or paved with beautiful tiles.

Unfortunately it was too dark to photograph all the rooms.

I hope there will be a second visit to this beautiful castle in the future to take more photographs.
